Ruth, Week 2, Day 2

Introduction

Do you remember when you met your husband for the first time? I met my husband at the skating rink when I was sixteen-years-old. We dated through high school and as soon as I graduated, we were married.

Ruth, Week 2, Day 3

Reading and Assignment

Ruth 2: 8-13, Psalm 57:1, SOAP Ruth 2: 11-12

Scripture

And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore. The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust” (Ruth 2:11-12, KJV).

Observation

Boaz speaks to Ruth and confirms what he has heard about her. She left her parents to marry her husband, she came to a foreign land with her mother-in-law when her husband passed away. Boaz blesses Ruth and asks for the Lord’s protection.

Application

Do you share words of affirmation? How do you know you are in the will of God? Do you bless others? Do you pray for your family? Do you recognize God working in your life?

Prayer

Father God, thank you for your word? Thank you for Your protection? Help me to affirm others as Boaz affirmed Ruth. Help us to be mindful of God’s blessings and to share with others. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Conclusion

Just as I met my husband and went on to marry him, we see this in the future for Boaz and Ruth. Enjoy the love story and the sovereignty of God. Don’t you just love the way God protects Ruth?

Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast”  (Psalm 57:1 KJV)
