Beloved, shall we gather at the river? I can hear my dad singing this song. Dad loved to gather at church. Dad was all about faithfulness. He attended church until the end of his life. Actually he preached for the last time in October two years ago before the Lord took him home. He believed that we would gather at the river and see our loved ones again.

I love that we are promised to see our loved ones again. My mom went home in October of 1977 and my dad went home in November of 2017.

When we gather on the banks of the rivers of heaven who do you want to see the most. I am looking forward to seeing Jesus face to face. Can you imagine hearing His voice saying, “Well done good and faithful servant?”

When we gather we will experience no tears, no pain, and what a tremendous love we will feel at the feet of Jesus. Probably, just to see Jesus will be enough.

In Psalm 50, The important point of this imagery for Ps 50 is that when God calls people together to speak his word or exercise judgment, his authority is backed by his awesome nature.

God is God. We shall gather before our awesome God.

God is Good all the time and all the time He is Good.

Beloved what attribute of God are you looking forward to gathering to see? His love, His majesty, His Grace. or His Goodness?

Father God, You alone are worthy of my praise. You will gather us to praise and worship you. I love you Lord. In Jesus name, Amen
